October 23rd at 7:30pm
Two veteran Tarheel players – Hank Smith on banjo and Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw on fiddle – join forces with some of Carolina’s most versatile musicians to create modern, American, acoustic music featuring the full range of their talents as composers and arrangers.
JAMinc had originally scheduled them as our May 2020 artists in Studio A before the pandemic, so we’re delighted to present them in October as part of our new In Your Ear … Live streaming concert series.
We hope you’ll save the date of October 23rd at 7:30pm to enjoy this polished young string band in the acoustic and visual perfection of our carefully-produced virtual experience.

About Hank, Pattie & The Current
The band makes use of traditional bluegrass instrumentation in a creative, non-traditional way to arrive at a whole new musical place. The arrangements take on a new level of maturity that follows in the footsteps of Bela Fleck, Mark O’Connor, Chris Thile, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, and Tony Rice.
Hank, Pattie & The Current want to pick up where seminal crossover groups like Punch Brothers and Strength In Numbers call home. The music is vocal and instrumental, allowing the band to experiment with arrangements and tailor the compositions to become vehicles for exploration. The Current includes Billie Feather on guitar and Stevie Martinez on bass.
