JAMinc presented four area acts at the 20th Anniversary edition of the Richmond Folk Festival held the weekend of September 27 – 29, 2024.
The Richmond Folk Festival once again filled auditoriums and classrooms at Richmond-area schools with performances and presentations Friday morning before the festival started. JAMinc provided transportation, audio support, and local on-site coordination for some of the festival’s performers to local schools. See a full the 2024 participating performers »
A few notes and photos from Friday …
John Doyle & the Irish American Music Masters visited Fox Elementary. They put on an excellent show for the packed gymnasium and had the students singing along and clapping throughout their 45-minute set. The school’s principal said bringing bands to the school is a highlight of their school year and they look forward to it every year.

Ms Jaylin Brown performing at the Family Stage
Saturday afternoon JAMinc hosted Silly Bus and Richmond native Ms. Jaylin Brown on the Family Stage. Ms. Brown has recently returned from earning a master’s degree in Contemporary Performance and Production (M.M.) at Berklee Valencia, Spain. Playing solo, she captivated her audience, which included her mother and niece, along with JAMinc RFF alum Ali Thibodeau (Deau Eyes). Brown’s songs are heartfelt and emotional and the audience responded enthusiastically!
Ramona Martinez performing at the Family Stage
Sunday afternoon JAMinc hosted Kid Pan Alley and Charlottesville’s Ramona Martinez, accompanied by her pedal steel player Brooks Hefner. She sang original songs reflecting her Mexican-American roots. She grew up in south Texas and included a couple of traditional mariachi tunes in a country western style. Her audience embraced her heartily. Martinez was recently listed as one of the “15 Latino Artists Shaping Country Music” by Wide Open Country.
