JAMinc Outreach Collective
Coming Fall 2023!
Music education is at the core of JAMinc’s mission. We are dedicated to bringing music from all corners of the world to Richmond area schools to expose K-12 students to traditional music from a variety of cultures.
That’s why we’re creating the JAMinc Outreach Collective, a program that connects local schools with participating musicians for in-school performances, workshops and other events.
We are working with our metro Richmond area Directors of Music to set up our network of educators. More information coming soon.
If you are a musical artist, we encourage you to register to participate in the Collective.
About the Collective
Since 2003, JAMinc has organized countless in-school musical events at over 50 Richmond area schools including, Mary Munford Elementary, Miles Jones Elementary, Collegiate School, Binford Middle School, the Steward School, St. Andrews School, Maggie Walker Governor’s School, Collegiate and St. Christopher’s School. Read what these schools have to say about JAMinc’s school outreach program.
Since the pandemic forced us to put a hold on our extensive run of in-school performances, JAMinc has been building a program that will enable Richmond area public and private schools, including the counties of Chesterfield, Henrico and Hanover, to access a diverse roster of RVA musical artists representing many genres, to arrange workshops or performances in their respective classrooms and auditoriums.
The Collective will allow for much greater flexibility for music educators to tap our city’s rich roster of artists and schedule them independently. JAMinc will ensure that the musicians will be compensated for their time and talent, with the schools contributing as they are able.
We hope to launch the Collective in the fall of 2023.

Richmond Folk Festival partnership
In 2006, JAMinc began a partnership with the National Folk Festival – now the Richmond Folk Festival – to bring national and international musicians into schools for educational performances during the festival week. In the years since its founding, JAMinc volunteers have coordinated these events and provided transportation and sound reinforcement for the visiting artists from all over the world.
After discontinuing the Folk Festival artists’ performances in the Richmond Public Schools during the pandemic, plans are to resume this meaningful endeavor in October of 2023. This partnership will serve as an important conduit for JAMinc to expose students to a variety of musical styles for years to come.

“Music CAN be a powerful, healing tool AND in order for music to effect change, it needs an ambassador. JAMinc is that dedicated organization/bridge between the artist and the community. Thank you JAMinc for believing in the arts and creating clear ways to make it available throughout your community. Keep Jammin!”
