Known for dazzling flatpicking guitar as a protégé of Wayne Henderson, over the last few years he’s added classic country vocals to his repertoire. As a North Carolina singer/songwriter, Presley is on a mission to bring real country music back to his audiences.
Influenced by legendary artists like Doc Watson, Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings, Barker’s goal is to restore the authenticity of real country music and honor the traditions of those who paved the way. With his blend of traditional sounds and a fresh spin, Presley Barker is making his mark while staying true to the roots of country music. Growing up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and working on his family’s cattle farm, Barker knows the meaning of hard work, dedication, and what the country lifestyle is all about.
First picking up a guitar at the age of seven, he participated in mountain music festivals across the south, where he won the Galax Old Time Fiddler’s Convention guitar contest in the adult division at just ten years old, and again at age thirteen. Over the next few years, he added titles like the West Virginia State Flatpicking Guitar champion and Wayne Henderson Guitar competition winner to his name.
His journey as an artist has led him to other achievements, including performances on national television shows such as The Today Show and American Idol. Barker has played the Grand Ole Opry as a guest of Ricky Skaggs and shared the stage with country and bluegrass icons such as Brad Paisley, Clint Black, Marty Stuart, and Billy Strings. He has had the honor of singing the “Star Spangled Banner” at many NASCAR races and related events.
