Exquisite string ensemble Rosette performs unique arrangements of pop classics featuring the powerhouse vocals of Laura Ann Singh.

Rosette has been creating unique concert experiences since 2015.

Vocalist Laura Ann Singh (Miramar, Quatro na Bossa) brings her rich and expressive voice to Studio A accompanied by the acclaimed Rosette string quartet, Marlysse Simmons on piano and Ayça Kartari on bass. This project celebrates great songs, innovative arrangements and making meaning through beauty and community. They will perform the music of Joni Mitchell, Florence Welch, Laetitia Sadier, Carol King, Judee Sill and more in unique and evocative settings for voice and strings. Rosette is a Richmond-based string quartet comprised of Ellen Riccio, Treesa Gold, Stephanie Barrett, and Kimberly Ryan who love to make meaningful connections through music. From a bring-your-own-beer house show featuring Bartók’s Third String quartet, to a Woman Crush Wednesday program at an art gallery, to a collaboration with the Indian classical vocalist Saili Oak, Rosette has been creating unique concert experiences since 2015. In the fall of 2021, the group launched So Hot Right Now, an innovative concert series which brings the music of living composers to Richmonders in a variety of settings.

Laura Ann Singh is a multilingual American singer, recording artist and songwriter, often associated with musica popular brasileira (MPB) and Latin boleros. She has performed internationally in Europe, Russia, and South America, and with Miramar has been featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk. Last year, her notable performances included an appearance at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theatre with composer, cellist and MacArthur genius grant fellow Tomeka Reid, with the Richmond Symphony with Miramar, and a JAMInc concert singing swing and bossa nova with the Doug Richards Jazz Orchestra. Her repertoire pulls from all over Latin America, especially Brazil, but includes American Songbook standards, women composers, and original music.

We’ll be doing our traditional pot-luck before the show too for those interested in doing so. We’ll provide plates, cups, bowls and utensils. You bring a delicious dish to share with fellow attendees.
